Hard to believe it’s been six years since the inception of Cybermidi.com but that is a fact. The sixth anniversary—that’s quite a milestone. Let’s see if we can come up with an appropriate gift to commemorate the occasion. In fact, how about if we start from the beginning and work our way up to this event? What songs would go with each anniversary, in this respect?
First anniversary – the traditional gift for the first anniversary is paper.
Paperback Writer – The Beatles
The Night Chicago Died – Paper Lace
Second anniversary – typical gift revolves around cotton.
Cotton Fields – CCR
Cotton-Eye Joe – Doobie Brothers
Third anniversary – something to do with leather.
Long Leather Coat – Paul McCartney
Leather and Lace – Stevie Nicks
Fourth anniversary – this would be a flower-related gift.
San Fransisco (Be Sure To Wear Flowers In Your Hair) – Scott McKenzie
You Don’t Bring Me Flowers – Neil Diamond & Barbara Streisand
Fifth anniversary – don’t know why, but his one is wood.
Norwegian Wood – The Beatles
Knock On Wood – Eddie Floyd
Sixth anniversary – which includes traditional gifts of candy.
Candy Girl – Four Seasons
Lily Was Here – Candy Dulfer & Dave Stewart
So how did our own Flash score over the years? Well, he sequenced songs in the Paper category. He missed the Cotton and Leather categories (probably just as well). He did sequence a song in the Flowers category as well as the Wood category. And that brings us to this year’s category—Candy. I’m not a big Four Seasons fan, but I do love the jazzy guitar & sax arrangement of “Lily Was Here.” Perhaps that can be Flash’s sixth anniversary gift to the users here at Cybermidi.
Here’s to another six years of quality MIDI files from the master. Thanks, Vin.
